What can a person do when fear and sorrow overwhelm the
individual by difficult circumstances? Is there anyone
that can help the individual? Can one be confident that
the help will be successful?
The Psalmist was able to be confident in the ability of
God when fear and sorrow came. God's promises came to
his mind for he firmly testified of God to his enemies-
"The Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will hear
and receive my prayer" (Psa 6:9). The power of prayer
to change a person's outlook in difficult circumstances
reminds us that prayer is the Believer's resource that
strengthens one's character and faith. He trusted the
friendship of God!
Paul was an enemy of Christ and doomed to eternal death,
but God made him His friend and saved his life many times-
"God has delivered us from so great a peril of death, and
will deliver us, He on Whom we have set our hope; He will
yet deliver us" (2Cor 1:10). Paul was able to confidently
testify of His power to change his circumstances and turn
his own heart away from fear and sorrow. It did not matter
to Paul if his physical life was lost, for he confidently
believed God literally in every promise!
The Psalmist wrote about his confidence in the God that
was his trusted Friend. The Friend that promised him that
physical death would not separate him from God, but would
unite him with his Lord and Savior that had accepted him-
"But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
For He will receive me- Selah" (Psa 49:15). Jesus gave
His Word that He is preparing a place for His precious
saints and will not give them over to death's power!
Let us remember who is our Best Friend. God's Name is
Jehová Adonai. He is the God who accepts us as we are
without any modifications. He is the God who will never fail
you nor forget you. He will never leave you or let you down.
Lift your hands to your Best Friend. Praise Him and thank
Him for all the blessings of His acceptance and friendship.
