How does a person find comfort while they are enduring
suffering and heartache? How can a person be purified
from all wrongdoing, guilt, and mistakes? What should
one consider to avoid suffering from wrongdoing?
The Psalmist was a person like us that suffered from the
mistakes and errors of his life, but he found a comfort
in God's promise that gave him hope that would change-
"Even in my suffering I was comforted because Your
promise gave me life" (Psa 119:50). God's Word can
not be changed, but He can change us and we have the
hope in that Word of His that we will receive a new life
without sin.
John relied on God's promise and also had hope in life
because the Lord always did what was right. He trusted
in the mercy of God, that God would forgive him always-
"But if we confess our sins to God, He will keep His
promise and do what is right: He will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing" (1Jo 1:9).
Some may point out that a person may take lightly the
fact that God forgives so readily. The Writer to the
Hebrews tells us that there is a condition of purpose-
"For there is no longer any sacrifice that will take
away sins if we purposely go on sinning after the truth
has been made known to us" (Heb 10:26).
The Psalmist was aware of the condition for forgiveness
from God. He verbalized his vow and purpose to the Lord-
"I have considered my conduct, and I promise to follow
Your instructions; You are all I want, O Lord; I promise
to obey Your laws" (Ps 119:57-59). The intent and goal
of his life was to pursue God's way and will for daily
living. God is faithful to give us the desires of our heart
and faithful to help us like He promises!
Let us remember who is the God that remembers all things.
God's Name is Jehová El Berith. He is the God that makes
promises to His people, and does not forget. He does not
have the frailty of our human frame, and He is mindful
that we are but dust. Lift your hands to Him and Praise
Him today for the fact that He is the faithful God that
remembers His promises to us! Make your promises to
Him today and see the difference!
