Would it be a help to you if someone remembered you when
things weren't going so well? Would it be a help if that
someone could pick you up and carry you away from all of
the problems? What must a person do to find an advocate
like that to help them in time of calamity?
The Psalmist tells us that fortunately for mankind God
determined to consider man in his fallen state. He did
not forget Adam in his low estate and sin, but sent His
Son to redeem him from death, hell, and all spiritual
enemies. His promises have been to the children of men
in affliction and slavery without hope, for God did not
forget us or leave us to our own devices but loved us-
"He did not forget us when we were defeated; His love is
eternal" (Psa 136:23). Any man can choose not to remain
in the defeated state for His mercy endures forever. The
Psalmist blessed God for that consideration of grace!
Isaiah tells us God afflicted His own Son for the sons of
men. Every person afflicted by that enemy of sin now can
have hope if he will look to God and trust Him that He can
forgive every sin committed. God calls each person to be
be saved from the frailty of his human weakness by Him--
"In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel
of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy
He redeemed them; And He lifted them and carried them all
the days of old" (Isa 63:9). Christ continues to be the
advocate that stands in the presence of God to carry us
away from the affliction and penalty of sin!
The Psalmist testified that the simple step of faith was
all that Christ required of him. He was near death on many
occasions but found that his simple, obedient faith worked
when his persecutors became too much for him to bear alone-
"The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He
saved me" (Psa 116:6). The relief came not from any merit
of his, but God's own mercy and tenderness. The calamity
of man that he must return to the dust from which he came
is why each person must call on Him to find Him gracious
and true to all of His promises. It is by His mercies that
we are not consumed, but His promise is to make us complete!
Let us remember who is the God that remembers all things.
God's Name is Jehová El Berith. He is the God that makes
promises to His people, and does not forget. He does not
have the frailty of our human frame, and He is mindful
that we are but dust. Lift your hands to Him and Praise
Him today for the fact that He is the faithful God that
remembers His promises to us! Make your promises to
Him today and see the difference!
