Do you enjoy the ability to rely on the word of a close
friend? Do you have a secure position when you are a party
in a contract and the terms are well defined? If those terms
are not met, what is the remedy for your protection?
Before the death of Joshua, he reminded his people of the
faithfulness of God and His reliability: "Now I am about
to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your
heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the
LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise
has been fulfilled; not one has failed" (Jos 23:14).
Joshua reminded them also of the conditions of the pact
or promises, and the consequences if they did not fulfill
their word: "But just as every good promise of the LORD
Your God has come true, so the LORD will bring on you
all the evil He has threatened, until He has destroyed you
from this good land He has given you. If you violate the
covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded
you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them,
the LORD's anger will burn against you, and you will
quickly perish from the good land He has given you"
(Jos 23:15-16). After Gideon's death the people found
those consequences to be severe when the covenant of
Jehová El Berith was violated (Jud 9:46-53).
The Writer of the Proverbs and the Psalmist tell us about
the power and strength of those that rely on on His promises
and Name: "The Name of the LORD is a strong tower; the
righteous run to it and are safe" (Pro 18:10). "Those who
know Your Name will trust in You, for You, LORD, have
never forsaken those who seek You (Psa 9:10). "Some
trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in
the Name of the LORD our God" (Psa 20:7).
Let us remember who is the God that never breaks His
promise. God's name is Jehová El Berith. Jehová El Berith
makes covenants, contracts, pacts, and agreements. His
terms and His word are irrevocable. The Psalmist knew
the strength of that promise and declared, "I will praise
You as long as I live, and in Your Name I will lift up my
hands" (Psa 63:4). Raise your hands to Him and Praise
Him today for His all of His promises that have not
failed in your life!
