Were the promises of God made for all people to trust
and believe that they are true? What quality did King
David have that made him a man after God's own heart?
What examples or proof is there that God will keep His
His promise to me?
Paul tells us that he had an earnest will to pursue the
legalistic route of the Pharisees until he understood
the promises of God--"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ
by the will of God, according to the promise of life
which is in Christ Jesus" (2Tim 1:1). He found that
those promises were true to all who listen to God's
call and answer Him--"For the promise is to you and
to your children, and to all who are afar off,
as many as the Lord our God will call" (Acts 2:39).
Paul preached about God's election of David as a King
because of his devout heart and promises made to God--
"And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them
Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin,
for forty years. And when He had removed him, He raised
up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony
and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man
after My own heart, who will do all My will.' "From this
man's seed, according to the promise, God raised up for
Israel a Savior-Jesus" (Acts 13:21). God fulfilled all
of His promises to David and will do the same for us.
Paul tells us that Abraham is an example for us about
the promises of God--"And if you are Christ's, then you
are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise"
(Gal 3:29). Just as Isaac was born as a miracle in the
old age of Sarah, so our born again experience is the
example and proof that we have--"Now we, brothers, as
Isaac was, are children of promise" (Gal 4:28). He can
not fail and will not fail on His promises to us.
Let us remember who is the God that remembers all things.
God's name is Jehová El Berith. He is the God that makes
promises to His people, and does not forget. He does not
have the frailty of our human frame, and He is mindful
that we are but dust. Lift your hands to Him and Praise
Him today for the fact that He is the unforgetful God that
remembers His promises to us! Make your promises to Him
today and see the difference! He is faithful to His Word.
