What would you expect God to call Himself and by what Name
would describe His Person? What would you expect the response
to be from most people; readily accepted or ridiculed? Why
would God want anyone to know Him as a Person?
Moses questioned God about the method of explanation to
Israel about His Name. God intended for Israel to know
that His promises to them would last for all time--
God said, "I am Who I am. You must tell them--- The
One Who is called I AM has sent me to you. Tell those
Israelites that I, the Lord, the God of their ancestors,
the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, have sent you to
them. This is my Name forever; this is what all future
generations are to call Me" (Exo 3:14-15). God is the
same from the eternity past to the eternity future.
The Psalmist questioned God about the length of time
that He would be patient with those that ridiculed and
denied His existence and power-"How long, O God,
will our enemies laugh at You? Will you permit them
to insult Your Name forever"? (Psa 33:11). But His
ways are not known to man. He has His own timetable-
"But His plans will endure forever; His purposes will
last eternally" (Psa 74:10). His plans and purposes
are made to last throughout all generations, not in
a manner that a man may see plans and purposes.
Jesus explained the eternal plan and purpose of God was
to show His patience with men so that none would perish-
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If you
eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I
will give you is My flesh, which I give so that the world
may live" (John 6:51). The mystery of an eternal God and
His love to us remains; that He continues to pursue men
to convince them to avoid an eternal death; that He shows
His mercy to all, and desires to have fellowship with us.
Let us remember the God that is our Everlasting God. God's
Name is Jehová El Olam. He is the God of Eternity that always
was and always will be. He is the God who has an eternal purpose
for us that Exceeds what any mind may conceive. He understands
human frailty and the shortness of life. Lift your hands to Him
and Praise Him today for the fact that He is the God who is our
Everlasting God that will always be there for us!
