Would you feel more secure if your father had great power?
Wouldn't it be a comforting thought to know that we would
never have to say goodbye to our father? What security does
one have with the presence of a father?
Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be known to all--
"A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And He
will be our ruler. He will be called, "The Wonderful
Counselor," "Mighty God," "Eternal Father," "Prince
of Peace." His royal power will continue to grow;
His Kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as
King David's successor, basing his power on right and
justice, from now until the end of time. The Lord God
Almighty is determined to do all this" (Isa 9:6-7). It
is a priviledge to have an Eternal Father.
Before Moses died He reminded them of the kinship of
their God and the arms of a father who protected them--
"People of Israel, no god is like your God, riding in
splendor across the sky, riding through the clouds to
come to your aid. God has always been your defense;
His Eternal Arms are your support. He drove out your
enemies as you advanced, and told you to destroy them
all" (Deut 33:26-27). That relationship as a father
will always be throughout eternity.
Peter exhorted his friends not to abandon their faith
and God's call in their life. One must remain in the
faith to prove that his faith is genuine and sincere--
"So then, my friends, try even harder to make God's call
and His choice of you a permanent experience; if you do
so, you will never abandon your faith. In this way you
will be given the full right to enter the Eternal Kingdom of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet 1:10-11). He
is the God that gives us eternal security because we do
not turn back, but make our faith experience permanent.
Let us remember the God that is our Everlasting God. God's
name is Jehová El Olam. He is the God of eternity that always
was and always will be. He is the God who has an eternal purpose
for us that exceeds what any mind may conceive. He understands
human frailty and the shortness of life. Lift your hands to Him
and Praise Him today for the fact that He is the God who is our
Everlasting God that will always be there for us!
