Is there a difference between "wants" and "needs" in
our daily life? What do most people consider to be
their primary needs? What focus do most people have
for "wants" and "needs"?
Jesus taught His disciples that God knows what things
that His people actually need. If He does not grant
any petition, it is because He sees it is not needed-
"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when
you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is
in the secret place; and your Father who sees you
in secret will reward you openly" (Mat 6:6). We may
be assured that the petition that He grants will be
for our good, and the reward will be better enjoyed!
John tells us that Jesus called Nathanael to be one
of His disciples. Could it be that he was in prayer
seeking direction from God in his own secret place?-
"How do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him,
"Before Philip called you, when you were under the
fig tree, I saw you" (John 1:48). Perhaps Nathanael
could tell us all of the reward that one has as a
disciple of Christ! Did he have a petition to be a
man of God? Did he have secret desires to be filled
with the righteousness of God? Was his heart truly
devoted to God? Jesus was God in the flesh; He saw
the need of Nathanael and supported him!
Paul wrote to the Romans to instruct them on focus
of their mind and for them to consider things that
God sees in them. He views our spiritual condtion-
"For those who are according to the flesh set their
minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are
according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit"
(Rom 8:5). The Holy Spirit is concerned about people
being in favor with God and the welfare of their soul.
The eternal future is considered often and the fact
that one will see the God that has seen him all of
his life motivates one to live a pure life for God!
Let us remember who is the God that sees all things.
God's Name is Jehová El Roi. He is the God that sees
the NEEDS of His people, that is our moral conscience
and strength daily, and is our strong support because
our hearts are truly His. Lift your hands to Him and
Praise Him today for the fact that He is the God that
that sees everything that we need!
