Do you believe that someone is stubborn when they won't
change their mind or are they resolute in their faith?
What benefit is it to one to have a resolute mind? What
makes an individual confident of what he believes? In
addition to courage and confidence, what gives a person
power to face difficulties?
Paul expressed his happiness with the Colossians that they
were remaining solid in their faith, not disregarding it--
"For even though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in
spirit, and I am glad as I see the resolute firmness with
which you stand together in your faith in Christ" (Col 2:5).
That strong, unchanging faith gives one courage to face
affliction and testing without turning from the Lord. For
Paul to see that quality in the Colossians brought him joy
for he knew the power that God gives to one of resolute and
strong faith. That resolute faith drives out fear!
The Writer to the Hebrews exhorted his fellow believers to
maintain their faith because Christ is also faithful to us-
"But Christ is faithful as the Son in charge of God's house.
We are His house if we keep up our courage and our confidence
in what we hope for" (Heb 3:6). The power of one committed
and faithful to Christ grows and increases his confidence in
the Lord as he sees God faithful to His promises. It requires
courage to maintain our faith in the middle of difficulties.
John wrote of the great love that God had for man. He wrote
of the power of Jesus and expressed how much Jesus loved us-
"Love is made perfect in us so that we might have courage
on the Judgment Day; and we will have it because our life in
this world is the same as the life of Christ" (1John 4:17).
The disciple that Jesus loved came to know the power of His
love for us. John wanted to be perfected in the love of the
Lord. John found Him all powerful and sufficient!
Let us remember who is all powerful and all sufficient.
God's Name is Jehová El Shaddai. He is the God who does
not give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and
a sound mind. His power can give us all we need to live a
righteous life. Lift your hands to the most powerful God
of all the universe. You can Trust Him Today for strength
and power in your life!
