Do you have a secret place that you can go where you believe
that you are safe? Is it cowardly to hide from trouble and
avoid contention? Would you prefer to be inaccessible when
problems and trouble surface?
The Psalmist found a secret place that was safe from all
that could be harmful to him. It was in the presence of
God. It was the place that God protected by hidden means-
"You will hide them in the secret place of Your presence
from the plots of man; You will keep them secretly in a
pavilion from the strife of tongues" (Psa 31:20). He was
protected from bad threats and contentious persons. His
petition to God pleaded for that place to be his dwelling
place, for most worldly men are strangers in that place.
The Psalmist petitioned God for safety in the place of
secrecy of the Lord; for His secrecy supersedes all other
counsel. It was not cowardly to ask to be hidden, but it
was a matter of faith in God to trust Him against what can
not be seen or guarded against. God kept him from fears-
"Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, From the
tumult of those who do iniquity" (Psa 64:2). Those that
are practicing wickedness operate in disbelief of God or
His pending judgment unaware that God's power and love
have given His chosen ones a sound mind against fears.
The Psalmist expressed his confidence in the Lord Who
was powerful enough to protect him from harm's way-
"For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His
tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will
hide me; He will lift me up on a rock" (Psa 27:5). He
believed the hiding place of God was sufficiently in-
accessible from every conceivable danger. He believed
that his strength for protection against evil was from
the Almighty God alone.
Let us remember who is all powerful and all sufficient.
God's Name is Jehová El Shaddai. He is the God who does
not give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and
a sound mind. His power can give us all we need to live a
righteous life. Lift your hands to the most powerful God
of all the universe. You can Trust Him Today for strength
and power in your life!
