Just as there is much discouragement in death, there is
much hope in new life, our children. Just as there is much
discouragement in a curse, there is much hope in a blessing.
Just as there is weakness in mankind, there is all power in
the Lord Almighty. What is the discouragement or weakness
that troubles you today?
God instructed Joshua to encourage and bless the younger
generation to remind them of what God had done for their
fathers, He will do for them also. He will show Himself
mighty on their behalf if they will follow Him faithfully:
"Tell them that the Lord your God dried up the water of the
Jordan for you until you had crossed, just as He dried up
the Red Sea for us. Because of this everyone on earth will
know how great the Lord's power is, and you will honor the
Lord your God forever" (Josh 4:24).
God changed the nature and name of Jacob "the deceiver" to
"Israel", one who is managed by God. Israel gathered his sons
to bless them and instruct them of the power and might of God:
"His arms are made strong By the power of the Mighty God of
Jacob, By the Shepherd, the Protector of Israel" (Gen 49:24).
Jacob's son Joseph became powerful, but only by God's power.
The Pharoah in the time of Moses was powerful but refused to
acknowledge the power of the God of Moses as supreme. God
explained why He had been merciful to him through Moses:
"If I had raised My hand to strike you and your people with
disease, you would have been completely destroyed. But to
show you My power I have let you live so that My fame might
spread over the whole world" (Exo 9:15-16). The purpose
of God to have fame and be well known is for the blessing
of all who come to know Him. Those who refuse Him find great
disappointment and discouragement.
Let us remember who is the all powerful and almighty God.
God's name is Jehová El Shaddai. He is the God who
uses His strength to defend and support us. His power can
give us all we need to live righteously . Lift your hands to
the most powerful God of all the universe. You can Trust Him
Today for strength and power in your life!
