Where is the safest and most secure place that a person
can live? What secret could there be to finding a secure
place without many troubles? Can a place of solitude be
a place of renewal?
The Psalmist declared that his comfort and security
came from making God his keeper and his habitation--
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High God
will abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (Psa 91:1).
The refuge of the Believer is that God is his defense.
He trusts by faith that the Lord will be his most sure
safeguard in any time or place of trouble.
The Psalmist explained that the Believer is at home with
God even though trouble may surround him. The favorite
place to worship God is in solitude without distractions-
"For in the time of trouble He will hide me in His pavilion
In the secret place of His tabernacle He will hide me; He
will set me high upon a rock" (Psa 27:5). The secret is
that no enemies can come to this place, that God is ready
to hear our prayer, and that He is a Rock to us, a high
place inaccessible to the enemies!
The Psalmist explained that the comfort and privilege of
the Believer is the shelter and residence provided by the
Lord. All of His attributes are excellent, but above all
His mercy is most precious. Confident trust in His mecrcy
is the refuge of the Believer and he thinks of His kindness-
"How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the
children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your
wings" (Psa 36:7). The secret place under the shadow of
the Almighty is a great place to live!
Let us remember who has the higher and safer way.
