What does the creation of the universe have to do with the
"born again" principle? How important is the knowledge of
God to that person that is "born again" and is a new being?
How is growth and progress made for the new being and
what methods are used?
The "born again" principle is that creation of a new
being by God. Paul explains it is only possible by the
will of God that one believes by hearing God's word--
"But the scripture says that the whole world is under
the power of sin; and so the gift (eternal life) which
is promised on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ is
given to those who believe" (Gal 3:22). A believer is
created by God when the person hears the truth of God's
Word and believes it to be true. That person has passed
from death to life for his faith has changed his actions.
He actually is a new person--the faithful believer.
Paul further explained that God makes that new creature
after Himself. The old has passed and all is made new--
"The believer has put on the new self. This is the new
being which God, its Creator, is constantly renewing in
His own image, in order to bring you to a full knowledge
of Himself" (Col 3:10). The Creator has determined to do
this with all of His new creatures.
Paul was pulled in many directions with many concerns,
but he had a deep sense of love and responsibility for
the new Philippian believers. He wanted them to grow
and mature in their faith so they would have great joy--
"I am sure of this, and so I know that I will stay. I
will stay on with you all, to add to your progress and
joy in the faith" (Phil 1:25). Paul was joyful for the
spiritual growth the Creator of the universe had made
possible in their lives as they knew Him better.
Let us remember who is the Creator of the universe. God's
Name is Jehová Hoseem. He is the God who is the Creator
of our faith and reason. He is the Creator of our growth
and progress in Him. He is the Creator of the New Creature
spiritually. Trust Him and Praise Him Today for all the
"new" that has come and the "old" that has passed away. He
is determined to bring us joy as we progress in Him.
