Why would someone want to defend God, the Creator of
the world? Can one find hope from their Creator in the
darkest hours? Is the Creator of the universe a provider
and protector?
Elihu was angered by those who could not answer for
God accurately about the afflictions of Job. He gave
Job some interesting counsel--"Be patient and listen
a little longer to what I am saying on God's behalf. My
knowledge is wide; I will use what I know to show
that God, my Creator, is just. Nothing I say to you
is false; you see before you a truly wise man. How
strong God is! He despises no one; there is nothing
He doesn't understand. He does not let sinners live
on, and He always treats the poor with justice. He
protects those who are righteous; He allows them to
rule like kings and lets them be honored forever. The
Creator of the universe is a perfect God in every way.
Elihu continues with Job to say that many people when
in trouble and perplexed, ironically do not look to
the source of relief----"When people are oppressed,
they groan; they cry for someone to save them. But
they don't turn to God, their Creator, who gives them
hope in their darkest hours" (Job 35:9-10). The desire
of God is to restore their hope and to help them.
Isaiah defended his Creator to Israel to remind them
that God would help them like a husband if they would
turn to Him and forget their pride---"Your Creator
will be like a husband to you— the Lord Almighty is
His Name. The holy God of Israel will save you— He
is the ruler of all the world" (Isa 54:5). The husband
that loves his wife faithfully protects and provides for
her welfare and well being.
Let us remember who is the Creator of the universe. God's
name is Jehová Hoseem. He is the God who is the Creator
of our faith and reason. He is the Creator of our growth
and progress in Him. He is the Creator of the new creature
spiritually. Trust Him and Praise Him Today for all the
"new" that has come and the "old" that has passed away. He
is our faithful Creator that gives honor, that gives hope,
and that operates as a faithful husband and father to us.
