Happy New Year!!!!
When we approach the closing of another year, what type
of time considerations do you have? How important is the
place to you and the person that you will celebrate the
beginning of a new year? Many make predictions for the
coming new year; what person do you know that is accurate
in all their predictions?
The Psalmist declared to the God of eternity that time
is a small consideration to Him, but he was impressed
the most with the unending faithfulness of His love---
"I know that your love will last for all time, that your
faithfulness is as permanent as the sky" (Psa 89:2).
The permanence of His faithful love, like the sky is
there every morning, every day, and every evening.
Jacob had a preference to fellowship at the place that God
had changed him (the house of God, Bethel). He preferred
to obey God's call; to meet with Him again (Peniel, the face
of God), face to face. He then instructed his family to go-
"We are going to leave here and go to Bethel, where I will
build an altar to the God who helped me in the time of my
trouble and who has been with me everywhere I have gone"
(Gen 35:3). He was marking a place and point in time to
purify himself and family from any other vain interests
and renew themselves before God.
God reminded His people Israel through Isaiah the prophet
that He only could make truly accurate predictions about
the future that lasted from generation to generation---
"Could anyone else have done what I did? Who could have
predicted all that would happen from the very beginning
to the end of time" (Isa 44:7)? There is no other
person that can tell you what will be your future with the
exact precision that God can. He is the Person that we
can trust to put our future in His hands.
Let us remember who is the God in all times. God's
name for His people is Israel. He is the God that changes
our nature from our encounter with Him. He is the God that
changes our countenance from our communion with Him. He is
the God that is worthy of our worship. We remember the times
that we have struggled in prayer with Him. We remember that
place of despair, but rejoice in the defeat of the enemy. We
remember that person and glimpse of God from His blessing
and He remains the Lord of our heart and our home. He is the
God of the New Year; Happy New Year and God's Blessing!
