What is the normally the procedure in high offices of
government when a problem surfaces? If fast action is
required to find a solution, how is it issued? Are the
lives of many hanging in the balance when those decisions
are made?
The Scripture tells us that King Xerxes of Persia called
his advisers for their combined wisdom to find a solution
for the challenge that was made to the king's authority.
His own wife, Queen Vashti publicly refused a royal order
from King Xerxes and he was concerned about the impact--
"Now it was the king's custom to ask for expert opinion on
questions of law and order, so he called for his advisers,
who would know what should be done" (Est 1:13). Collectively
a solution was found and King Xerxes issued an order.
This ancient culture of 127 provinces was a varied society
with many cultures and a system of law and order. They also
had a communication system to inform the citizens of edicts-
"To each of the royal provinces he sent a message in the
language and the system of writing of that province, saying
that every husband should be the master of his home and speak
with final authority" (Est 1:22). King Xerxes's judgement was
quick and final. Queen Vashti was dethroned and divorced for
her public disobedience to the throne. From India to Ethiopia
the system of law and order was established.
The solutions to many questions and problems are remedied
by systems of regulations that exist by the providence of
God. God ordains individuals to be in positions of power
and they are in power because of His greater purpose. God
has plans and ways that are beyond comprehension. Not by
any coincidence, the adopted daughter of Mordecai, Esther
became a favored candidate to fill Queen Vashti's position.
In the familiar story we find that Mordecai acknowledged
the fact that God had a purpose for allowing Esther to be
promoted to her high postion--"If you keep quiet at a time
like this, help will come from heaven to the Jews, and they
will be saved, but you will die and your father's family will
come to an end. Yet who knows maybe it was for a time like
this that you were made queen!" (Est 4:14). Mordecai knew in
his heart that God had provided a Sacrifice before to stop
the forces of the enemy and would do it again! Esther agreed
to pray and fast with her people and they were saved!
Let us remember who is the God that provides all things.
God's Name is Jehová Jireh. He is the God that provides
a Solution to the problems of His people. He is the God
that provides a System for His people to live. He is the
God that provided a Sacrifice for humanity. Lift your
hands to Him and Praise Him today for the fact that He
is the God that provides for our every need!
