What would you do if an accident occurred and you were
responsible and did not have enough resources to make
it right? Do people normally become depressed over the
problems that seem out of their control? What can one do
in those times of trouble when there is no apparent way
to find a solution?
The Scripture tells us that a friend of Elisha was working
when an accident occurred. While he was cutting down the
tree, the ax head flew from the handle into the river. He
was grieved at his inability to replace the lost item for
he did not have sufficient funds to purchase another one-
"What shall I do, sir?" he exclaimed to Elisha. "It was a
borrowed ax!" "Where did it fall?" Elisha asked. The man
showed him the place, and Elisha cut off a stick, threw it
in the water, and made the ax head float (1Kings 6:5-6).
Our inability to solve many problems points to the need
for us to rely on the God that can provide a solution to
every problem that we have. Elisha was the father of the
prophets that taught complete dependence on the God that
is not bound by the laws of nature.
Job tells us that unfortunately for men, they are born for
trouble like the sparks from a fire fly fly upward, however
the hearts of men are naturally prone to problems that take
them downward in depression. After a long discourse with
God, Job came to know that God provides a system to test
the sons of men. He uses affliction and trouble to bring
about the miraculous change of heart in man. A heavy heart
that would sink in depression and despair is made to rise
by faith and hope in the God that is not bound by the laws
of nature. The greatest miracle is the change that God can
work in a man; to lift him from the mire of many troubles
to a place of restored security.
Peter tells us that the Believer's consciousness is raised
to know that God provided a sacrifice for us to escape the
destruction and penalty of our sins, troubles, and errors--
"Being conscious that you have been made free from the old
foolish way of life, which was the heritage from your fathers,
not through a payment of things like silver or gold which go
to destruction, but through holy blood, like that of a clean
and unmarked lamb, even the blood of Christ" (1Pet 1:18-19).
The Believer is aware that the power of Christ is available
and that He should be trusted daily for His solutions. His
system to teach us is reliable and will not fail in trouble!
Let us remember who is the God that provides all things.
God's Name is Jehová Jireh. He is the God that provides
a Solution to the problems of His people. He is the God
that provides a System for His people to live. He is the
God that provided a Sacrifice for humanity. Lift your
hands to Him and Praise Him today for the fact that He
is the God that provides for our every need!
