How is God good to His people and what is His promise
of provision to them? In times of want is it very
difficult to believe that God will provide? When you
have been wronged and believe that God has forgotten
you, can He turn it around to bless you?
God promised Jeremiah that He would purge the sin from
His people and bless them as an example to the world--
"I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which
they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all
their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which
they have transgressed against Me; Then it shall be to
Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all
nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that
I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the
goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it"
(Jer 33:8-9). God's free pardon of sin and His abundant
provision for His people is a joy and honor to Him.
The Psalmist tells us that God became angered at the
Israelites because they did not believe that God had
intended good for them but thought God forgot them--
"Yes, they spoke against God: They said, "Can God
prepare a table in the wilderness? Behold, He struck
the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the
streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He
provide meat for His people? Therefore the Lord
heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled
against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel,
Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust
in His salvation" (Psa 78:19-20). God wants us to keep
trusting Him when we can't see the outcome.
The story of Joesph reminds us that when his brothers
plotted evil against him, Joseph continued to trust
God while enslaved in Egypt. God was able to bless
him and promote him and he overcame evil with good--
"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God
meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it
is this day, to save many people alive; Now therefore,
do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little
ones, And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them"
(Gen 50:20). God comforts us and reminds us of His
promise of provision that will never fail.
Let us remember who is the God that provides all things.
God's name is Jehová Jireh. He is the God that provides
a solution to the problems of His people. He is the God
that provides a system for His people to live. He is the
God that provided a sacrifice for humanity. Lift your
hands to Him and Praise Him today for the fact that He
is the God that provides for our every need!
