Is a public office a private matter? Can a public official
use our public resources for his personal gain or pleasure?
These are the questions that are presented to our public
today. Many say "I've heard enough", "Don't bother me with
that", "What is the big deal about a little impropriety?"
The fact of the matter is that the issue in the public light
is not really about a person's personal sex life. The standard
used to judge any person is the law. Certainly we can all
relate that no person is without fault and compassion should
be a factor when judgement is rendered. Our laws were made
by our elected officials that determined regulations were needed
for our society to function in an orderly manner to insure that
our freedoms would be protected. So the polls have already been
taken at the election booth and legislative process. Public polls
and sentiment do not necessarily reflect the greater wisdom of
our society when it is time to elect and decide our future.
A moral fall by anyone should not be applauded, even by his
enemies. We all suffer from the same lower moral weakness,
but that does not mean we do not have higher moral aspiration
as a society. History in our own society has proven that we must
purge inequities from it.The cost of that function in our society
is not free, in dollars or obligation. We are all obligated, like
it or not, to deal with the issue. The blight of apathy on our nation
can do far more damage than a moral failure of a public official.
"A man who does not stand for anything will fall for anything."
Let us all remember the higher calling that we have as Americans,
and the higher standard that we have as a beacon of freedom to
the rest of the world. It is Jehová Nissi, the Lord our God, In God
We Trust, that can raise a standard for us to live by. Trust Him
and Praise Him Today!- for your higher moral aspirations .
