Does God call people to do His service and work? How does
one qualify to enter the ranks of God's service? Who gives
the orders in this organization?
Paul reminded young Timothy that God calls every person to be
a part of His kingdom, not based on what we have done, but to
make us like Him--"Who has saved us and called us with a holy
calling, not according to our works, but according to His own
purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before
time began" (2Tim 1:9). The eternal purpose of God has been
and will always be a holy calling for every individual.
Paul wrote to the early church to tell them that God does not
look on the outside qualifications of a man to consider calling
him to service: "Brethren understand the nature of your humble
calling; that not many wise according to the flesh, not many
mighty, not many noble, are called" (1Cor 1:26). One qualifies
to enter the ranks by his humility before God.
The writer to the Hebrews asked them to make a consideration:
"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ
Jesus" (Heb 3:1). That calling of Jesus is one that believers
submit and follow in loyalty. We look to the banner that is
raised to follow as our standard.
Let us remember who is the God that is our banner. God's
name is Jehová Nissi. He is the God whose banner over
us is His love. He raises up His standard of righteousness
for us when the enemy comes in like a flood. He makes
that standard of righteousness a higher calling in your life.
Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for the fact
that He is the God who is our banner and sign to rally
our cause!
