Have you been ever been lost in a strange part of town and
lost your direction? Have you ever been fearful of what
might happen to you? In that circumstance of fear and loss
of direction, did you ever have the anxious thought that you
could lose something valuable to you? Have you ever been
at the crossroads of an important decision that would affect
your future, and found the decision very difficult to make?
Just as we may need a map for our physical location, most
often we need assistance for direction in our life for uncertain
ways. The Psalmist prayed, "Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day
long" (Psa 25:4-5). God is merciful and tender to help those
that call on Him for His help to guide them.
The Psalmist reminds us of God's promise to us to protect us
from harm: "For He will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways" (Psa 91:11). But He prayed
to God for protection consistently: "Guard my life and rescue
me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope
is in you" (Psa 25:20-21). "Guard my life, for I am devoted
to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in You
(Psa 86:2). God hears and answers that prayer.
Many times we may not be fearful for our life, but we are
anxious about making the right decisions. The writer of
the Proverbs advised his son how to make wise choices: "For
wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant
to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding
will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked
men, from men whose words are perverse, who leave the straight
paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and
rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways" (Prov 2:10-15). This writer
knew the way to gain was to keep from loss.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Shepherd. God's
name is Jehová Rohi. He is the God that is our guide. He
provides direction and a way for us. He is our guard. He
protects us from harm and keeps us safe under the shelter of
His wings. Jehova Rohi teaches us that godliness is great gain.
He profits us by withholding no good thing to those that walk
in His righteous paths. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him
today for the fact that He is the God that shepherds us according
to the integrity of His heart!
