Have you ever wanted someone to take the lead when you were
disoriented? Have you ever felt vulnerable to loss and wanted
a guard to protect your possessions and person? Have you ever
doubted that your methods were profitable or would you bring
you gain?
John tells us that Jesus will guide us to satisfying waters:
"The Lamb Who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd
them and lead them to living fountains of waters" (Rev 7:17).
Jesus taught us to pray that we would not be led to temptation:
"Do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil
one" (Luk 11:4). The Psalmist reminded God of his reliance,
love, and trust in His Name: "Because, You are my rock and
my fortress; Because of the love of Your Name, Lead me and
Guide me" (Psa 31:3). The correct direction of your path
is His primary concern.
God spoke through Isaiah to tell His people that He would
protect them at their most vulnerable point: "The Lord will
go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear
guard" (Isa 52:12). Paul tells us that God will remember
to protect us: "But the Lord is faithful, Who will establish
you and guard you from the evil one" (2Thes 3:3). Your
protection is His passion.
Jesus reminds us to prioritize what counts in life and how
important it is to nurture our soul by communion with God:
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole
world, and is himself destroyed or lost" (Luk 9:25)? A man's
soul can be destroyed and the Scripture tells us there is one
that comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Paul tells us that
God sent His Holy Spirit that we would profit by His gifts:
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for
the profit of all" (1Co 12:7). Your profit is His purpose.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Shepherd. God's
name is Jehová Rohi. He is the God that is our guide. He
provides direction and a way for us. He is our guard. He
protects us from harm and keeps us safe under the shelter of
His wings. Jehova Rohi teaches us that godliness is great gain.
He profits us by withholding no good thing to those that walk
in His righteous paths. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him
today for the fact that He is the God that shepherds us according
to the integrity of His heart!
