Have you considered whether there will be an end to sadness?
What do you consider to be a danger to you? How do you
determine what is profitable and what is not?
John tells us that one day our Lord will take away all of the
hurt and heartache---"The Lamb in the center of the throne
will be their Shepherd, and will guide them to springs of
the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their
eyes" (Rev 7:17). Any veil of tears in this world that hides
the joy to come will only last a short time with a Divine
Shepherd to guide you.
Paul wrote to a group of believers to remind them that the
good Shepherd would establish them--"The Lord is faithful,
who will establish you and guard you from the evil one"
(2Thes 3:3). God told Noah that He would establish a promise
to protect him and all mankind in the future: "I will establish
My covenant with you for this purpose: Never again shall
all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again
shall there be a flood to destroy the earth" (Gen 9:11).
Paul understood that it was his soul that found peace and
profit--"Those things that were gain to me, these I have
counted loss for Christ" (Phil 3:7). Those things that
seemed profitable in this world were not. He found as
he died to the desires of this world, great gain in his
soul--"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain"
(Phil 1:21). Paul put that in perspective with his warning
to Timothy about those that could not understand--"There
are men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who
suppose that godliness is a means of gain; Withdraw yourself
from them" (1Tim 6:5). Godliness is not counted in dollars.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Shepherd. God's
name is Jehová Rohi. He is the God that is our Guide. He
Provides direction and a way for us. He is our Guard. He
Protects us from harm and keeps us safe under the shelter of
His wings. Jehova Rohi teaches us that godliness is great Gain.
He Profits us by withholding no good thing to those that walk
in His righteous paths. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him
today for the fact that He is the God that shepherds us according
to the integrity of His heart!
