Can a person remind God of what He should do for His
people and that He should listen? Who could guard you
and protect you if you were without friends and family?
What can a person gain and profit from being faithful
to God?
The Psalmist prayed and petitioned God not to turn
a deaf ear to His people who had been defeated by
their enemies--"Listen to us, O Shepherd of Israel;
hear us, leader of Your flock. Seated on Your throne
above the winged creatures, reveal Yourself to the
tribes of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us
Your strength; come and save us! Bring us back, O
God! Show us Your mercy, and we will be saved!"
(Psa 80:1-3). He reminded God that He was their
Leader and Guide and without Him they were lost.
Jacob called his sons together before his death for
last words and prophecy--"Come together and listen,
sons of Jacob. Listen to your father Israel". Any
one who is strong is strong By the power of the Mighty
God of Jacob, By the Shepherd, the Protector of Israel.
It is your father's God who helps you, The Almighty God
who blesses you With blessings of rain from above And
of deep waters from beneath the ground, Blessings of
many cattle and children, Blessings of grain and flowers,
Blessings of ancient mountains, Delightful things from
everlasting hills" (Gen 49:2,24-26). Jacob reminded
Joseph how the Lord had been his Guard and Protector
even though he was without friends or family.
Peter tells us of the reward that a Great Shepherd will
have for us for remaining true and faithful to Him----
"Do not try to rule over those who have been put in your
care, but be examples to the flock. And when the Chief
Shepherd appears, you will receive the glorious crown
which will never lose its brightness" (1Pet 5:3). The
Shepherd comes with His reward for our profit and gain.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Shepherd. God's
name is Jehová Rohi. He is the God that is our Guide. He
Provides direction and a way for us. He is our Guard. He
Protects us from harm and keeps us safe under the shelter
of His wings. Jehova Rohi teaches us that godliness is great
Gain. He Profits us by withholding no good thing to those
that walk in His righteous paths. Lift your hands to Him and
Praise Him today for the fact that He is the God that leads
and shepherds us according to the integrity of His heart!
