Can every sickness be explained by medical and science
explanations? Would you speculate that if someone had
the ability to cure those things that no doctor could
cure, many people would come to him? If someone had the
ability to cure and heal, what would motivate him to do
so?
Luke the physician, the Gospel writer tells us about a
woman that was suffering from a bodily infirmity and was
not able to straighten herself. Jesus knew the source of
of her problem when he saw her as she came to the temple.
He had compassion on her soul, for it was an affliction
from Satan on her body. Then He called her to Him saying-
"Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity" (Luke 13:12).
The body trouble of the woman would not keep her from the
worship of God, and the mercy and faithfulness of God did
not deny her relief from her affliction!
Matthew tells us that when people heard about Jesus they
had hope and many came to see Him. There was not a case
that was too difficult, but He relieved them from distress-
"And when evening had come, they brought to Him many who
were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a
word, and healed all who were ill" (Mat 8:16). Words of
Jesus never sounded so good to those that were physically
and spiritually healed from their oppression and sickness.
Matthew tells us that Jesus had strong feelings for those
that were suffering. He had love and sympathy for them---
"And when He went ashore, He saw a great multitude, and felt
compassion for them, and healed their sick" (Mat 14:14).
He loved them and was happy to minister to them to deliver
them from darkness to His light!
Let us remember Who is the God that is our Healer. God's
Name is Jehová Rophe. He is the God that is our Healer.
He binds up our wounds and heals all of our infirmities. To
the brokenhearted, He comforts the soul. To the person who
is down, the Sun of Rightousness Rises with healing in His
wings. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for
the fact that He is the God that heals us of the spiritual
infirmities that trouble us!
