Have you ever been down, physically, emotionally, mentally,
or spiritually? Have you ever considered or asked why the
suffering continued for so long? Who can understand those
types of needs and provide a remedy?
Luke the physician tells us that a woman was suffering from
an ailment and came to Jesus for help---"There was a woman
who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent
over and could in no way raise herself up" (Luk 13:11). This
woman came to Christ to learn and to find hope for her soul,
and then Jesus relieved her bodily infirmity.
John tells of another man that was down and could not get
up. He had seen others healed and he believed, but did not
understand why he had not been healed---"Now a certain
man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years"
(John 5:5). Those that have suffered long in affliction,
may comfort themselves with the fact that God keeps
account and knows how long you have suffered. That
man was raised to walk again.
Paul wrote to the Galatians to remind them of their needs
that God supplied when Paul first met them. God met them
at their place of need--"You know that because of physical
infirmity I preached the gospel to you at the first" (Gal 4:13).
The Gospel is always a good place to start to meet your needs.
The Galatians remembered the remedy.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Healer. God's
name is Jehová Rophe. He is the God that is our Healer.
He binds up our wounds and heals all of our infirmities. To
the brokenhearted, He comforts the soul. To the person who
is down, the Sun of Rightousness Rises with healing in His
wings. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for
the fact that He is the God that heals us of the spiritual
infirmities that trouble us!
