Did you ever have a question and then after much thought
were able answer your own question? Did you ever attempt
to do work on a project that you did not know much about,
and then someone stepped in to help you when they saw your
effort? Have you ever been discouraged to the point where
you thought your situation was without hope with none to help?
The Psalmist was able to answer his own questions when
he began to think about what God had previously done--
"Did God forget to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up
His tender mercies? And I said, This is my infirmity;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the
Most High. I will make mention of the deeds of Jehová;
For I will remember thy wonders of old" (Psa 77:9-11).
[Selah]. He thought about his question, "Did God forget
me?". He then began to testify of the great actions of
God and all that He accomplished. He realized that the
faithfulness of God was so vast, God would never forget
him, but heal him. If not in this life, the resurrection.
Paul discovered that often times we do not pray to God
as we should, but the Holy Spirit steps in to help--
"And in like manner the Spirit also helps our infirmity-
for we know not how to pray as we should; but the Spirit
Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which
cannot be uttered" (Rom 8:26). God mercifully senses
our intentions and begans to help our infirmities.
The Writer of the Proverbs knew that broken man was a
man alone who had lost hope for his cause. The loss of
hope is the most serious infirmity, but God will help--
"The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a
broken spirit who can bear?" He believed the words of
God and trusted in the safety and refuge of His Name--
"The Name of Jehová is a strong tower; The righteous
runs to it, and is safe" (Pro 18:14,10). The one who
will run to God, He will make him righteous.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Healer. God's
Name is Jehová Rophe. He is the God that is our Healer.
He binds up our wounds and heals all of our infirmities. To
the brokenhearted, He comforts the soul. To the person who
is down, the Sun of Rightousness Rises with healing in His
wings. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for
the fact that He is the God that heals us of the spiritual
infirmities that trouble us!
