What reason do you think many doctors give for a number
of ailments that they see in their patients? Do you think
that 50% of the patients they see, the doctors say part
of the problem is in the mind of the patient? What do you
think is the remedy for the part of the problem the doctor
can't see?
Isaiah tells us that God appeals to our logic and reason
when we are suffering from physical or mental sickness--
"Israel, your head is already covered with wounds, and
your heart and mind are sick; Let us reason and think
about this together. You are stained red with sin, but
I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your stains
are deep red, you will be as white as wool" (Isa 1:5,18).
God appealed to Israel to discontinue their rebellion
to God and let Him restore them again.
The Psalmist and the writer of the Proverbs knew that
often times God calls on a man to remember his mind
set. Their response was one of submission and appeal--
Examine me, O God, and know my mind; test me, and
discover my thoughts; Peace of mind makes the body
healthy, but jealousy is like a cancer; The Lord gave us
mind and conscience; we cannot hide from ourselves or
from God" (Psa 139:23,Pro 14:30,20:27). They understood
that a mind at peace was one in balance and harmony. God
has placed a conscience at the seat of our being (our mind
and heart) to remind us to examine ourselves.
Ezekiel tells us that a renewed being comes from the act
of recognition, reverence, and obedience to God's will--
"I will give you a new heart and a new mind. I will take
away your stubborn heart of stone and give you an obedient
heart. I will put My spirit in you and will see to it that
you follow My laws and keep all the commands I have given
you" (Eze 36:26,27). God has determined to do this with His
people and will accomplish a remedy for His children.
Let us remember who is the God that is our Healer. God's
Name is Jehová Rophe. He is the God that is our Healer.
He binds up our wounds and heals all of our infirmities. To
the brokenhearted, He comforts the soul. To the person who
is down, the Sun of Rightousness Rises with healing in His
wings. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for
the fact that He is the God that heals us of the spiritual
infirmities that trouble us!
