What sacrifice does a Captain or Commander make
for those troops or subordinates under him? Should he
receive glory or honor from those he leads? What type of
strength should this captain and leader have? How does a
great Captain prove he is capable of leadership.
The writer to the Hebrews tells us that Jesus continues
to receive glory and ending to His sufferings and trouble
because of His perfect sacrifice and payment of our sin-
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and
by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory,
to make the Captain of their Salvation perfect through
sufferings" (Heb 2:10). Through His sufferings in His
perfect life, He was made the perfect and the complete
sin offering to God for the sin of mankind to those who
will accept Him as the Captain of their souls.
Micah prophesied that Christ would open the way to
God. He took upon Himself the nature of man, and by the
work of His Spirit in the hearts of men breaks the sin
that binds a person. He breaks through the enemies that
would stop our way to heaven with His righteous strength-
"The breaker goes up before them; They break out, pass
through the gate, and go out by it. So the Captain goes
on before them, And the Lord is their head" (Mic 2:13).
Just as the Lord Jehová Sabaoth was the Head of Israel
when He brought them out of Egypt, He will lead His
people out of bondage and slavery from sin to heaven.
Isaiah tells us that Jesus was a witness to the point
of death for God, to His law, His claims, and plan of
redeeming love. His claims were made true by actions-
"Behold, I have made Him a witness to the peoples, A
leader and Captain for the peoples" (Isa 55:4). Our
Christ was given to us to be our Leader, our Captain,
to show us what to do, and empower us to do it. Our
duty is to obey Him and follow Him. He is the Holy One
of Israel that is true to every one of His promises.
Let us remember the God that is our Captain. God's name
is Jehová Sabaoth. He is the God who is the Captain and
Lord of The Hosts of Heaven. He is the Mighty Conqueror
over all of His enemies. He is mighty in battle and able to
lead His Host to victory. Lift your hands to Him and Praise
Him today for the fact that He is the God who is our Captain
that leads us to our victory! He teaches us to overcome!
