Can a man be at peace when he is completely surrounded
by his enemies who seek his destruction? Is there any
assistance available for the surrounded person? What can
one be taught to have complete victories?
Elisha was at peace when he was surrounded by enemies
of Israel, but his friend did not know God's power, so--
"Elisha prayed, and said, "Lord, I pray, open his
eyes that he may see." Then the Lord opened the eyes
of the young man and he saw that the mountain was
full of horses and chariots of fire all around the
prophet Elisha" (2Ki 6:17). Elisha's young friend at
once was at peace because of this assurance.
The Psalmist described the assistance that he received
when he was surrounded by enemies and God's help to him-
"The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear
Him, and delivers them" (Psa 34:7). His eyes had also
been opened to perceive that he was not alone in danger.
He reverenced and respected a God so powerful that none
could come against and defeat Him. He wisely obeyed Him.
Wise King Solomon wrote a prescription for victory and
accomplishment. He advised not to forget his instruction-
"Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around
your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, bind
them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your
neck" (Pro 3:3,6:21). The teaching from the Word of God
enhances one's life as he applies it to his life each day.
Let us remember who is the God that is our peace. God's
Name is Jehová Shalom. He is the God that puts His peace
all around His people. He is the God that is helping us
learn His ways. He is meek and humble and makes us aware
that the fear of the Lord gives protection. He will soon
crush Satan under our feet and instructs us from all of
His teaching. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today
for the fact that He keeps us with in His peace!
