Will there truly be peace when the world leaders meet? Will
it bring about peace that will endure? Does the world have
hope that one day our world will live in peace? What is the
solution for an enduring peace with our world neighbors?
Jesus tells us that until He returns from heaven for His
people, there will be wars and rumors of war. That does
not mean we should not pursue peace, for Jesus blesses the
peacemakers. Unfortunately an enduring, lasting world peace
will only be accomplished by Jesus. We should work and pray
for peace until He comes.
Jesus tells us that He gives us peace, not as the world gives,
but a peace that removes fear and anxiety. It is a peace that
calms the heart just as Jesus calmed the storm on the sea. It
is an assurance to us that regardless of what happens around
us, He is in control of the circumstance. We simply need to
trust that His power that will prevail in the situation.
Paul tells us that He will guard our hearts with a peace that
is beyond comprehension and our understanding. Our circumstances
may seem hopeless or without solution, but God has a solution.
The guard that He puts around us protects us from the cares and
concerns of this world. Jesus tells us that we will have trouble,
but for us to take heart for He has overcome the world.
Isaiah tells us there is no peace for the wicked person. All
that the world has to offer will not bring peace to the person
without Christ. Paul tells us that person does not know the way
of peace (Romans 3:17). One of Christ's purposes with believers
is to give them a peace and contentment that does not depend
on what the world has to offer.
Let us remember who is the God that is our peace. God's
name is Jehová Shalom. He is the God that puts His peace
all around His people. He is the God that is helping us
learn His ways. He is meek and humble and will teach us
the fear of the Lord to make us wise. He will soon crush
Satan under our feet and instruct us to say no to the desires
of the flesh. Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him today for
the fact that He is the God that guards us with His peace!
