Have you recently heard of the number of people that are
suffering from sleep disorders? Many are searching for
a solution through medication. What is the most reasonable
solution and source for our peaceful rest?
The Psalmist tells us that He is able to sleep well
because the source of his safety is God: "I will lie
down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety" (Psa 4:8).
The Psalmist knew and relied on the promises of God to
His People: "I will listen to what God the LORD will
say; He promises peace to His people, His saints--
but let them not return to foolishness" (Psa 85:8).
The Psalmist found a way to have even more peace in his
life was by obeying God's commands and warnings to us:
"Seven times a day I praise You for Your righteous laws.
Great peace have they who love Your law, and nothing can
make them stumble" (Psa 119:164-165).
Let us remember who is the God that is our peace. God's
name is Jehová Shalom. He is the God that puts His peace
all around His people. He is the God that is helping us
learn His ways. The Psalmist had the calm assurance of
knowing that his praises to God brought contentment and
peace: "I will praise you as long as I live, and in Your
Name I will lift up my hands" (Psa 63:4). Lift your hands
to Him and Praise Him today for the fact that He is the
God that guards us with His peace!
