When we are confused or uncertain, is there a way to
find a solution or calm to the situation? How can one
stay calm in a tumultuous situation? Is it really true
that a clear conscience makes one peaceful?
In our fast paced society it is difficult to find
contentment and peace with many confusing choices.
Paul found in his life's journeys many distractions, but
he found peace when he consulted God to help him stay
focused: "For God is not the author of confusion but of
peace (1Cor 14:33). God gives us direction in times
of confusion.
Isaiah found that when he recognized God's control over
every situation, he found unexplainable peace by trusting God:
"You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed
on You, Because he trusts in You" (Isa 26:3). His focus on
God and His attributes reminded him that he could trust Him.
The Psalmist found that God's commandments were not a
burden to maintain, but the commandments of God are a
blessing to those that hear and heed them. He came to
know and love the commmandments for how they helped him:
"Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing
causes them to stumble" (Psa 119:165). The Psalmist's
knowledge of the commandments gave him a moral standard
that maintained a clear conscience giving him great peace.
Let us remember who is the God that is our peace. God's
name is Jehová Shalom. He is the God that puts His peace
all around His people. He is the God that is helping us
learn His ways. The Psalmist had the calm assurance of
knowing that his praises to God brought contentment and
peace: "I will praise you as long as I live, and in Your
Name I will lift up my hands" (Psa 63:4). Lift your hands
to Him and Praise Him today for the fact that He is the
God that guards us with His peace!
