Is there a safe place you can go in times of danger and
trouble? What assurance does one have that he is safe and
secure from the trouble? Who is the One that protects from
danger and harms way?
Wise King Solomon wrote about the Tower of Righteousness,
and referred to Him as his God that was a refuge against
all trouble because he was set on high away from danger--
"The Lord is like a strong tower, where the righteous can
go and be safe" (Pro 18:10). He trusted in the Name of God
that continues to reveal Himself by His Word and promises.
His characteristics are power, faithfulness, and mercy
that can be relied on by the disciple. He forms a strong
tower for that disciple that relies on Him.
The Psalmist recorded the Words of God as He spoke of the
of His promises to each individual that trusts Him as his
God. The Lord assures the faithful disciple of His love--
"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I
will set him securely on high, because he has known My
Name (Psa 91:14). Whatever happens, nothing will hurt the
one that trusts Him. If affliction and trouble come upon
the Believer, it will not be for his hurt but for his good.
For this encouragement he looks to Jesus to know all the
good that He has in store for him. In the grievous trying
time the Believer is assured God is with him until he is
delivered from the trouble.
The Psalmist relied on past experiences to trust in the
faithfulness of God. He remembered all God did for him-
For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength
against the enemy; Let me dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.
(Psa 61:3-4). David found that he could not be fixed in
any secure place, unless the Lord placed him in the high
tower. He continued to find there is safety in Him, and
none without Him.
Let us remember who is the Lord that is Our Righteousness.
God's Name is Jehová Tsidkenu. He is the God that sent
His Son of Righteousness to pay our debt of sin (death
on a cross). He is our Tower of Righteousness for safety
and security. His righteousness sets his disciple in a
high place to encourage him of His faithfulness and love.
His righteousness will always be a refuge for disciples of
Christ that will bring memories of triumph over the enemy!
Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him for the fact that He
is the God that is Our Righteousness!
