When countries have great victories, are heroic actions
normally credited with the success? When one experiences
bad things, should he begin to complain of the problems?
Will the outcome be visible to others that are observing
the bad things that are happening?
Jeremiah was elated to announce the freedom from slavery
in Babylon to his people. God delivered them because of
His faithfulness to His covenant to them. They were not
justified by their own actions, but they were justified by
His Righteousness that became their righteousness---
"The Lord has revealed our righteousness. Come and let us
declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God" (Jer 51:10).
God was faithful to justify and bring forth His people to
freedom from a cruel enemy.
Micah explained that a person suffering under affliction
should not begin to complain against God, but would fair
well to patiently consider time with God. Micah decided if
he complained against God, he didn't know his guilt yet-
"I will bear the indignation of the Lord Because I have
sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and executes
justice for me. He will bring me out to the light, And I
will see His Righteousness" (Micah 7:9). His decision to
look inward did not bring distress or despair, but brought
dependence on God and deliverance from the Lord. His faith
was strengthened for the faithfulness of the God who was
his righteousness was true as God promised!
The Psalmist found peace in the promise of the Lord that
His Righteousness would restore his cause and right.
"And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your judgment as the noonday" (Psa 37:6). The Lord
brings to pass in faithfulness those things which have
been committed to Him. His judgement is always righteous
and is visible to men as the light of the sun at the time
that it is the brightest! Despair, distress, and darkness
are gone in the light of God's triumph.
Let us remember who is the Lord that is Our Righteousness.
God's Name is Jehová Tsidkenu. He is the God that sent
His Son of Righteousness to pay our debt of sin (death
on a cross). He is our Tower of Righteousness for safety
and security. His righteousness sets his disciple in a
high place to encourage him of His faithfulness and love.
His righteousness will always be a refuge for disciples of
Christ that will bring memories of triumph over the enemy!
Lift your hands to Him and Praise Him for the fact that He
is the God that is Our Righteousness!
