Would you consider it a supernatural event if the sun
or moon did not move in the sky for a whole day? Would
you consider it a supernatural event for a person that
was over 40 years old and crippled from birth to be able
to walk again? Would you consider it a supernatural act
if a man were able to live after being submerged in the
sea for 3 days and 3 nights in the stomach of a great
fish?
The Scripture tells us that God held back the motions
of our earth in orbit to show Himself mighty on behalf
of Israel, His people in battle: "The sun stood still and
the moon did not move until the nation had conquered
its enemies. This is written in The Book of Jashar. The
sun stood still in the middle of the sky and did not go
down for a whole day" (Jos 10:13). It is a miracle that
that we have victory in our spiritual battles in this
world. It is not possible to win those spiritual battles
without God's help.
Luke tells us of a miracle that happened to man of 40:
After the 40 year old man lame from birth was healed,
the leaders of the town could only attribute the miracle
to the God that was given credit by the disciples of Jesus:
"The members of the Council were amazed to see how bold
Peter and John were and to learn that they were ordinary
men of no education. They realized then that they had been
companions of Jesus" (Acts 4:13). God gives us boldness to
tell of the miracle and supernatural event of the change in
our heart and mind when we follow Jesus closely.
The story of Jonah is a miracle. God delivered him and
gave him another chance when Jonah declared he would
make good on his promise. Jonah acknowledged that God
should be the one to manage his life. Jesus declared
the purpose of that miracle to the leaders of His time:
"Then some teachers of the Law and some Pharisees spoke
up. "Teacher," they said, "we want to see you perform
a miracle." He responded, "How evil and godless are the
people of this day!" Jesus exclaimed. "You ask me for a
miracle? No! The only miracle you will be given is the
miracle of the prophet Jonah" (Mat 12:38-39). That was
a miracle of a changed heart and mind to follow God in
sincerity and truth.
Let us remember who is the God that makes all things
possible. God's name is Jehová Yahweh. Jehová is
the Lord of miracles. He alone has the power to
manage our life. He alone was mortified for us by
a death that had no power. He used His power to
overcome sin and death for you and me. Lift your
hands to Him and Praise Him today for the power
and purpose of His miracles today!
