Are there many gods in the universe? Does the worship of
something or someone make it become a god? If there is a
God, what is His greatest miracle? Who do you have that
you can call on besides God?
God warned the Israelites through Moses: "Do not worship
any other god, because I, the Lord, will not tolerate
any rivals" (Exo 34:14). The notion or motion of worship
of another god does not will or create it into existence: "So
remember today and never forget; the Lord is God in
heaven and on earth. There is no other god" (Deut 4:39).
"I, and I alone, am God; no other god is real. I kill
and I give life, I wound and I heal, and no one can
oppose what I do" (Deut 32:39). The warning reminds
His people that it is futile to pursue any other god.
All of the inspired writers of the Scriptures have come
to similar conclusions about the greatness of God and
His miracles. What is beyond our comprehension is that
a righteous God can continue to show us His love even in
the midst of our moral failures. Micah was overwhelmed
by the greatness of God: "There is no other god like
You, O Lord; You forgive the sins of Your people who
have survived. You do not stay angry forever, but You
take pleasure in showing us Your constant love" (Mic 7:18).
Hosea reminded his people of God's kind words to them:
The Lord says, "I am the Lord your God, who led you out
of Egypt. You have no God but Me. I alone am your Savior"
(Hos 13:4). The great miracles of the Exodus are reminders
of the power of God and also the purpose of God to save
us from the bondage of our moral failures.
Let us remember who is the God that makes all things
possible. Yahweh is the God Jehová, there is no other
god like Him. Jehová is the Lord of miracles. He alone
has the power to manage our life. He alone was
mortified by a death that had no power. He used
His power to overcome sin and death for us. Lift your
hands to Him and Praise Him today for the power and
purpose of His miracles today!
